Venous thrombosis: From population studies to biological understanding
John-Bjarne Hansen is professor in haematology at the UiT – The Arctic University of Norway and senior consultant in haematology at the University hospital of North Norway. He is the leader of the Thrombosis Research Center (TREC), a translational research center with focus on venous thromboembolism (VTE) with the intention to identify novel risk factors and extend the understanding of molecular mechanisms with the long-term goal to lower the burden of VTE in the society. Professor Hansen is the chair of the Scientific and Standardization Committee (SSC) on Predictive and Diagnostic biomarkers in thrombotic disease in the International Society of Thrombosis and Haemostasis (ISTH).
